YWMH is launching on Ash Wednesday, and this is no mistake.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection leading up to Holy Week. The past few years I have been reflecting on the rhythms of the church calendar, trying to remain mindful of how God uses seasons to shape our hearts. Two years ago I began writing songs of devotion as I was coming out of a time of brokenness in my worship life. I didn’t know what the songs were for, other than that I felt compelled to write them and sing them back to God. As I did, I began recording them as well. This culminated in a collection of songs that I would like to share with you as the church worldwide begins looking toward Holy Week. The songs are arranged to tell the story of Christ, from the exuberance and anticipation of Palm Sunday, to the Last Supper, to the betrayal in the garden, to Resurrection Sunday.
Out of the ashes of my last season I have found restoration. These songs have been a blessing to me…a gift from God, prayers on my lips that have found their way to my heart. I hope that in some way they might comfort you as well and point you in a Godward direction.
